How do you get to River Valley?

River Valley Lodge is situated 30 minutes drive east of the country town of Taihape. The road, while windy, has great views and takes in some very picturesque hill country farmland. There are regular signposts giving remaining driving time. River Valley Lodge is also an excellent half way point between Rotorua and Taupo, if journeying through to Wellington.

Driving times from major towns or cities in the area are:

Palmerston North - 2 hours

Wanganui - 2 hours

Napier/Hastings - 2 hours 15 minutes

Wellington - 3 hours 30 minutes

Taupo - 2 hours

Rotorua - 3 hours

If you are staying at Off The Cliff Adventure backpackers in Mangaweka, then you can catch the shuttle that departs each morning at 7.45am. and returns by about 2.00pm.
